Tektronix 1241 Bootup
Firmware 1241 V1.1 Backups Including Color Display Board and PAL’s Was Completed October 6th 2025, There was no backup online i could find including both the tek and logic analyzer wikis wiki’s If you wish to share these backups please provide attribution with a link to my blog it helps the algorithm. Removal of the Boards,
Backup the Control, Board 27128 Eproms. (Yes Battery is Removed more on that further down)
Eprom Set
Back Up I/O Processor Board
1241 I/O Processor Board 2764 Eproms Removed

1241 Color Display Board 2764 Removed
(I had to desolder some chip) 1 2732 Eprom and 2 Pal Chips
The only 24 Pin sockets i have in stock are machine pin so that’s what it gets!
The Tektronix 1241 Pal chips are a PAL16L8A Both had the same part number.
I removed both PAL Chips just in-case they had different code and if the same code will verify if they are read protected or not. Id id tell you how much i dislike working with thru-hole parts!Smd is way quicker.
I successful backup of the pal chips they were not read protected the code on them was the same, reinstalling them in to sockets!
The chips all reinstalled backup is complete.

The Catalyst Research 3440 Lithium Iodine Battery. From my reading these like to spew their juice and are a destroyer of boards on part with the Varta batteries from the era. I tried to find a data sheet on this battery I could not find one.
I knew I had seen this battery some other place in a machine I just cannot recall. I Will be making an adapter to run a CR2032. Below i am checking the foot print to the board and the battery i was slightly off.. Having a data sheet i could have pulkled the foot print data from it and not had to do a lot of measurement work.
Another test fit and nailed it both the the board and the battery perfect fit.
I will have these made and I will post a purchase link Soon.
