I am Based in Vancouver, WA, USA, I’ve successfully repaired over 100 of these units over the past two years. Below are just a few from August and September 2024.
My standard service for factory-sealed plastic transmission controllers. The repair fee is $300 USD, with an additional $20 for shipping within the USA. The TCU must be factory-sealed to qualify for this service.
Standard turnaround time is approximately 12-14 business days (Mon-Fri) from the day I receive the TCU, though I may be able to complete it sooner depending on the workload or if I get a few TCU’s in the repair queue.
Opened TCU and TCU’s With Attempted Repairs:
At my discretion, I may accept plastic transmission controllers that have been cut open, though each will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The process begins with you sending detailed photos of the unit. (E-mail Below) If the opened TCU shows minimal damage, such as bonding wires that are broken and accessible, If I accept the unit there will be an additional repair fee starting at $135. However, if the unit is determined to be beyond economical repair due to extensive bonding wire damage (over 5), damaged PCBs “chips, cracks, broken/torn/corroded traces, burnt components” that are not accessible due to epoxy, a nonrefundable $135 assessment fee will apply, and the unit will be returned.
Opened Units Bonding Wire Repair, $20.00 Per Bonding Wire (over 5 Bonding Wires) on top of the $75.00 additional repair fee.

Exchange units are $375, with a nominal $20 shipping fee in the USA. “I normally have 4 Turbo Units and 2 Naturally Aspirated In Stock” You will need to send your unopened core in and then I will ship a Transmission Controller that has been serviced within 1 to 2 Business Days and Shipped Back via USPS Priority Mail.

2 X MR195407
In the exchange program. (Sorry no MR246350, or Daihatsu in the exchange program at this time)
Exchange options are limited to stock on hand. To keep the exchange program economical, I wait until I receive 4-5 core units before servicing them in batches. If I’m out of exchange units and you need a quick turnaround, I offer expedited service for an additional $135. Your unit will be repaired and returned within 1 to 2 business days under this option. If you have extra sealed TCU’s I offer a $50.00ea core credit for them.
Notice: I currently have about a 95% success rate.
Some TCU units, particularly units from hot climates, may have damage to the bonding wire adhesive. This is caused by electrolytic acid leakage from the failed capacitors. This leakage if let to long compromises the conductive adhesive that connects the bonding wires to the circuit board, potentially requiring additional work to repair. If your unit is affected, I will notify you.
If only a few bonding wires are affected 5 or less, a repair at standard rates may still be possible. However, if the damage is to the bonding wires embedded in the epoxy, the unit is generally considered non-repairable due to the labor-intensive process required to remove the epoxy and replace wires with copper as the original are soft aluminum or some other material that solder will not bond with. I have mapped out alternate points of the most common areas I Have seen this affect. (If you r unit suffers form this
Units with damaged Printed Carbon Resistors, Generally the electrolyte corrodes the trace at the resistor. I am slowly mapping these out and they are in my QC Checks.
I am actively working on a solution to address this issue and will provide updates as progress is made.
If your Unit is affected by excessive electrolytic damage and deemed excessive or not repairable, I charge a Min $135 bench fee + shipping costs.
News: Jan 04, 2026 — My X-ray machine arrived, and I’ve begun X-raying the TCUs to identify the epoxy-covered areas. This process lets me trace the hidden bonding-wire terminations and locate alternate connection points that would otherwise be inaccessible without a massive amount of labor and unnecessary destruction of many boards.
I’ve informed everyone whose TCUs were previously considered beyond economical repair that I’m actively working on a solution. While this is an expensive venture to kick off the new year, it has the potential to save a significant number of TCUs. In addition, this work directly supports development of a reproduction board that will reuse the original MCU.
Stay tuned more updates to come.
