I made a Right to Repair Document Request for this Hoot Thermostat Feb 9th 2026
My request was Denied. By Jeffery Borigda On Feb 12th 2026
Here is the Denial E-mail, He is Saying that was manufactured before July 01 2021 I will quote: “The “Hoot” products that you reference were first manufactured on behalf of King Electric on or before June 2020 and was first sold by King Electric in August 2020.” Ummm Ok Below I am going to show that’s a lie. Another attempt to get around complying with Washingtons Right to Repair RCW 19.415 Law
I have not received any documentation backing this up. Here is my findings 1 of 2 units.
Per the request of King Electrical Manufacturing Attorney Leslie S Johnson PC (AVVO) all Unrelated communication to the Civil Suit Rhine v. King Electrical Manufacturing Co., Clark County Superior Court No. 26-2-01641-06 needs to be thru her. (As of this writing I am assuming her scope of representation includes King Electrical Manufacturing other business matters) I have not been told otherwise and She has had plenty of time to deny the representation in this matter.
On September 1st 2026, I did forwarded her my feb 9th right to repair request the feb 12th denial and provided her my evidence these were made after July 1st 2021. Here is the Hoot Right to Repair Request that I sent. 10/25/2026 I have not received a response from King Electrical Manufacturing or Her on this right to repair matter. I would assume she had counseled her client and is not assisting them in violating the right to repair or other laws that would be extremely unethical. I kinda wonder with all the push back what king Electrical Manufacturing is Hiding? We Will find out! Keep reading.
The Hoot… King Electrical Manufacturing K901-B TH-1251TY-A-V0-2110 Hoot Thermostat.
King Electrical Manufacturing K901-B Hoot Thermostat Model TH-1251TY-A-V0-2110 lets take the Model Number prob the 2110 is the Design Revision Date 10th week of 2021 that would put the Cat or Design Work at March 8, 2021 March 14, 2021. Bottom of the PCB I see a See what appears to be a Manufacture Date 2132 using standard dates again that is the 32nd Week of 2021 means the circuit board was manufactured Aug 9- 15th 2021. There is also a sticker on the board assuming after assembly and inspection contains the model number K901-B, A Bar Code and what i would assume is a Serial Number if we take standard dates that makes this hoot manufactured between Monday, October 25, 2021, to Sunday, October 31, 2021
The Back Light is Soldered to the PCB with 2 Pins.
Here is the touch display connected with 2 Zebra Elastomeric Connectors

The MCU 128 Pin Epson S1C17W18 Data Sheet I have not attempted to back this up yet. I Will as time allows. Chip was manufactured 22nd week 2021 per the info on the data sheet.
The Wifi Module is a TYWE1S Espressif ESP8266EX (Yes, I Have backed this up)
Back up of theis device was done via UART
The backup was a success. (Firmware Examination to Follow) Initial Examination this Runs Some Modified GPL2/3 Code. (FreeRTOS kernel V7.5.2). I have Examined the packaging and have not found any offer for Source? I will send a request for the source but I think king electrical manufacturing will ignore the GPL licenses requirements as well. I will C my request to the Free Software Foundation and Software Freedom Conservancy with the binary for their review.
This board also has Small Serial Flash Chip ACE25AC400 (Backed Up) This chip holds only the thermostat’s saved settings and schedule.
Removed Chip to Backup..
Removed the Backlight Nothing much on the PCB.
Since King Electrical Manufacturing Will not provide the schematics I I will now have to have them generated them Here is the X-rays that will start the process.
