Browsing Facebook Marketplace… Bang a DAYTON Horizontal Band Saw 4YG30 Popped Up For a Really Good Price!!!
My Shop is Still a Mess 1 Year Later But Coming Together.. Very Slowly.
Right when I seen This Bandsaw I knew I was gonna have to do some work just the looks of the beast but not very much.
So Far Douch & Inspect Gear Box, Worm Drive Gear Bushing & Bolt Missing from Parts Diagram??? Well Part of the Bolt was Digested in the gear Box But all Gears Look Serviceable. I got it rigged up with a homemade bushing/spacer because the factory bushing is backboard.
The Gear Change Selector was Worn a Bit But I added some metal with the mig and hit it with a file and stone works perfect now.
New Gear Oil in Gear Box Had Some From The Old Outboad that was on the Boat.
I Replaced all 10 Blade Guide Rollers with New SKF Brand $19.00 Ebay.
Lots of Cleaning, I Aligned it and Bang Cuts Clean Straight. I did notice the Idler / tension wheel is a bit squeaky I injected some lube and it quieted it down a little but 2 new quality 6203’s should resolve that for $10.00.
Dose Anyone know what seals and or o-rings the Hydraulic Feed Cylinder takes?? Prob want to rebuild that also now as it was prob never maintained and o-rings are cheap and have plenty of Hydraulic Fluid around here… Msg me on Facebook..
