FNIRSI LCR-P1 Teardown and X-Ray of Circuit Board (PCB) I have been inundated the last few weeks with other youtubers etc. pushing this brand and this little tester!

I procured the FNIRSI LCR-P1 using personal funds to conduct a Brief technical evaluation, and tear down as no thorough reviews currently exist.

My primary interest centered on the infrared decoding functionality, which exhibits inconsistent performance across different remote control protocols indicating potential areas for firmware optimization or expanded protocol library support. 1/2 the Remotes I have tested were not detected/decoded.

The core LCR measurement capabilities for characterizing passive components (transistors, capacitors, and inductors) demonstrate reliable operation and accuracy within the device’s specified parameters. The mechanical construction quality suggests robust durability for sustained use as an economical benchtop instrument in typical electronics lab handling conditions. Documentation clarity was adequate, and the firmware revision shipped at current release version, eliminating initial update requirements.

Case Opened.

Battery Marked as Advertised 300mAh 1,1Wh.. Battery is Glued to the PCB 🙁 but I may do a Capacity Test with the Siglent SDL2030X DC Electronic Load. If i can find the script that someone wrote and e-mailed just for the specific task of testing battery capacity.

My ongoing evaluation includes non-destructive X-ray imaging of both the primary unit and accessory adapters, revealing internal component architecture, PCB stackup configuration, and routing topology.

Yes, I know i Misspelled Transistor on the X-Ray LOL Shit Happens!

X-ray of the Main Unit.

PCB out of the Case.

X-Ray of the PCB out of the Case Battery Was Glued On Did not want to remove it to had to x-ray thru it.

MCU has the numbers lasered off… one day when I get the time I may try and Identify it. Prob a STM32 variant.

Close Up of the MCU Did not want to risk damaging the battery it is Glued to the PCB.

X-Ray of the Adapters.

Preliminary assessment indicates favorable cost-to-performance ratio for this consumer grade class of instrument.

Forthcoming updates will include some real World Testing and Comparison to other LCR Meters if i feel like it.

A #righttorepair request has been sent for schematics.
